Plate Svend Press
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Plate
HOW TO PERFORM
- Stand tall holding two light plates pressed together between the palms at chest height, fingers pointing forward and elbows out to the sides.
- Squeeze the plates together as hard as you can.
- Keep squeezing and press them straight out in front of the chest until the arms are straight.
- Bring them back to the chest under control without letting the squeeze relax.
FORM TIPS
- The squeeze does the work, not the weight. Light plates are plenty, and if they slide apart they are too heavy.
- Keep the shoulders down and the plates at chest height. Letting them drift up turns it into a front raise.
