Sissy Squat
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Stand tall, holding a rack or a post for balance, and rise onto the balls of the feet.
- Drive the knees FORWARD and lean the torso back, keeping the hips and shoulders in one straight line.
- Lower until the thighs and shins close down as far as the knees will comfortably allow.
- Pull back up with the quads without breaking the straight line from knee to shoulder.
FORM TIPS
- Deliberately the opposite of a squat: the hips do not travel back at all, so the whole load lands on the quads at long lengths. Add range slowly, the knees need time.
