Side Split Stretch
A step-by-step guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the movement and what to watch for.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Stand with the feet wide, toes pointing forward, and put the hands on the floor in front of you.
- Slide the feet apart slowly, keeping the knees straight and the kneecaps pointing forward.
- Lower the hips toward the floor, taking weight through the hands, until the inner thighs stretch strongly.
- Bring the hips back in line with the heels and lower onto the forearms as the range allows.
- Breathe and hold, then walk the hands back and bring the feet together to come out.
FORM TIPS
- Keep enough weight in the hands that you can stop the slide at any point.
- Tilt the pelvis forward instead of rounding the back, so the stretch stays in the inner thighs.
