Barbell Pin Good Morning
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
This is a technical lift, best learned under a coach’s eye before loading heavy.
HOW TO PERFORM
- Set the safety pins at the height the bar sits when your torso is bent forward to about parallel, and rest the bar on them.
- Get under it with the bar on the upper back, knees soft, hips pushed back and back flat, and brace.
- Drive the hips forward to stand tall, lifting the bar off the pins without letting the back round.
- Hinge back down under control and settle the bar on the pins before the next rep.
FORM TIPS
- Every rep starts from a dead stop with no stretch to bounce out of, so use well under your normal good morning weight.
