Peterson Step Up
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Stand facing a low step and set the ball of one foot on it, heel raised and knee pushed forward over the toes.
- Drive the heel down onto the step as you straighten the knee, lifting yourself until the working leg is locked out.
- Let the free leg hang without pushing off the floor with it.
- Reverse under control: bend the knee forward and rise back onto the ball of the foot as the free foot returns to the floor.
- Finish the reps, then switch legs.
FORM TIPS
- Use a low step, around 15 cm. The range is short and the work is in the last part of straightening the knee.
- Lock the knee fully at the top of every rep.
