Kettlebell Bottoms-Up Press
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Kettlebell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Clean a kettlebell to the shoulder and turn it upside down so the bell sits above the handle, forearm vertical and elbow tucked in.
- Crush the handle as hard as you can and stand tall with the glutes squeezed and the ribs down.
- Press the bell straight up, keeping the wrist straight and the bell balanced over the fist.
- Lock out with the arm by the ear, then lower under control back to the shoulder. Finish the side and swap.
FORM TIPS
- Start much lighter than your regular kettlebell press. The bell falls over the moment the grip or the wrist relaxes, which is what makes it useful.
- If the bell starts to tip, end the rep and reset it at the shoulder. Do not try to catch it.
