Barbell Incline Close Grip Bench Press
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Set the bench to about 30 degrees, lie back with the feet planted and take the bar with the hands about shoulder width apart.
- Pull the shoulder blades down and together, lift the bar off the hooks and hold it over the shoulders.
- Lower it to the upper chest with the elbows tucked close to the ribs.
- Press back up until the arms lock out.
FORM TIPS
- The narrow grip moves more of the work onto the triceps, so expect less weight than on a standard incline bench press.
