Hip Airplane
A step-by-step guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the movement and what to watch for.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Stand on one leg holding a rack lightly, and hinge forward until the torso and free leg are roughly parallel to the floor.
- From there, rotate the hips open toward the free-leg side, then closed toward the floor, keeping the shoulders following the hips.
- Move slowly: the standing hip does the rotating, the spine stays quiet.
- Come back up and switch legs.
FORM TIPS
- A balance and hip-rotation drill, not a stretch. Hold on as much as you need to, the range matters more than doing it hands-free.
