90/90 Hip Switch
A step-by-step guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the movement and what to watch for.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Sit on the floor with the front leg bent 90 degrees and the shin across your body, and the back leg out to the side, also bent 90 degrees.
- Sit tall with the chest up and both sit bones down, hands behind you only as much as you need.
- Lift and rotate both knees over to the other side, so the front leg becomes the back leg, and lower them under control.
- Keep alternating, driving the switch from the hips.
FORM TIPS
- Rotation at the hip, not the low back: if the ribs flare or the back rounds, sit on a cushion or cut the range down.
- To make it a stretch rather than a drill, hold each side and lean the chest over the front shin.
