Hindu Push Up
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Start in a downward dog: hands a little wider than the shoulders, feet about hip width apart, hips high and arms straight.
- Bend the elbows and sweep the chest down and forward between the hands, close to the floor.
- Keep moving forward and straighten the arms as the hips drop, finishing with the chest up, the hips low and the eyes forward.
- Push the hips straight back up to the downward dog with the arms straight. That is one rep.
FORM TIPS
- Make the whole rep one smooth wave. The chest should pass close enough to the floor to nearly brush it.
- Take the low back only as far into the upward position as is comfortable. The press is the work, not the backbend.
