Hatfield Squat
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Set a safety squat bar across the traps and stand inside a rack with the uprights within reach.
- Hold the rack uprights rather than the bar, using the arms for balance and a little assistance.
- Squat to your usual depth, keeping the brace.
- Drive through mid-foot to stand, pulling lightly on the uprights if you need to.
FORM TIPS
- The hands take some of the work, so the number on the bar is not comparable to a normal back squat. Track it as its own lift.
- It is a way to keep loading the legs when balance rather than leg strength is what fails.
