GHD Sit Up
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Machine
This is a technical lift, best learned under a coach’s eye before loading heavy.
HOW TO PERFORM
- Sit on the GHD with the feet locked into the rollers and the hips just off the back of the pad.
- Lower back with the arms overhead until the torso passes below horizontal and the hands touch the floor.
- Curl back up, sequencing through the mid-back rather than snapping from the hips.
FORM TIPS
- Start with a short range above horizontal and extend it over weeks. Going straight to a full drop back is where GHD sit-ups hurt people.
TARGET MUSCLES
Primary
- Abs
Secondary
- Obliques
