Barbell Front Box Squat
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Set a box behind you at the depth you want and rack the bar across the front delts with the elbows high.
- Brace and squat down with an upright torso until you sit lightly on the box.
- Pause without relaxing the upper back or letting the elbows drop.
- Drive up through mid-foot, leading with the elbows.
FORM TIPS
- Sit down onto the box rather than back. The front rack needs an upright torso, so the knees still travel forward.
