Barbell Floor Press
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
- Swiss Bar
HOW TO PERFORM
- Lie on the floor under the bar with the knees bent or the legs straight.
- Unrack it, or take a hand-off, and lower until the backs of the upper arms touch the floor.
- Pause there with the elbows resting, then press back to lockout.
FORM TIPS
- The floor stops the rep, not your chest, so there is no stretch reflex and no leg drive. It trains the top half of the press, which is why the loads do not match a full bench.
