Double Unders
A step-by-step guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the movement and what to watch for.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Hold the handles at hip height with the elbows close to your sides.
- Jump straight up on the balls of the feet, a little higher than for a single jump, legs nearly straight.
- Spin the rope from the wrists fast enough that it passes under the feet twice in each jump.
- Land softly on the balls of the feet and go straight into the next jump with a steady rhythm.
FORM TIPS
- Keep the feet together and the body upright. Piking or kicking the feet back to buy time is how the rope catches your shins.
- Build up with singles and doubles mixed (single, single, double) until the double lands every time, then link doubles.
- A lighter rope turns faster. Size it so the handles reach your armpits when you stand on the middle.
