Box Squat
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
- Cambered Bar
HOW TO PERFORM
- Set a box behind you at the depth you want, and set up with a slightly wider stance than usual.
- Sit BACK onto the box rather than straight down, keeping the shins vertical.
- Settle on the box without relaxing the upper back or rocking.
- Drive the hips forward and stand up.
FORM TIPS
- Sitting back rather than down is what makes it a box squat; if you just squat to a box you have only added a depth marker.
