Barbell Suitcase Deadlift
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Stand beside a loaded barbell with the bar running front to back alongside one foot.
- Push the hips back, bend the knees and grip the bar at its exact middle with one hand, back flat.
- Brace hard and stand up with the shoulders level, keeping the bar level front to back.
- Lower it back down beside the foot under control, finish the set, then switch sides.
FORM TIPS
- Find the balance point before you lift. Gripping even an inch off center tips the bar, and fighting the tilt takes over the set.
- Refuse to lean toward the bar. If the shoulders tip, the weight is too heavy.
