Barbell Bent Knee Calf Raise
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Barbell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Set a barbell on the upper back and stand with the balls of the feet on a step, the heels hanging free.
- Bend the knees to about 45 degrees and keep that angle for the whole set.
- Let the heels sink as far below the step as they will go, then press up onto the toes as high as you can and pause.
- Lower slowly back into the stretch.
FORM TIPS
- The bent knee shifts the work toward the soleus, as a seated raise does. If the knees straighten on the way up, it has become a standing raise.
