Band-Only Tricep Pushdown
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Band
HOW TO PERFORM
- Loop the band over a pull-up bar or the top of a rack, or fix it in a door anchor above head height.
- Stand facing the anchor and take the band or its handles with the elbows bent and tucked against your sides.
- Push the hands down until the arms are straight, keeping the upper arms pinned in place.
- Let the hands come back up under control only as far as the elbows can stay at your sides.
FORM TIPS
- A band gets harder the further it stretches, so lockout is the hardest point of the rep. Pause there and squeeze rather than bouncing off it.
- Step back from the anchor to make it heavier and toward it to make it lighter. There is no plate to add, so distance and band thickness are the load.
