Band-Only Lateral Walk
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Band
HOW TO PERFORM
- Loop a mini band around the legs just above the knees and stand with the feet hip width apart.
- Bend the knees and push the hips back into a quarter squat with the chest up.
- Step sideways with the lead foot, pushing the knee out against the band.
- Bring the trailing foot in only far enough to keep the band tight, then step again.
- Take the set's steps in one direction, then walk back leading with the other leg.
FORM TIPS
- Stay at the same height the whole way. Rising up between steps takes the tension off the hips.
- Never let the feet meet. A slack band between steps is a step that trained nothing.
