Band-Assisted Handstand Push Up
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Band
HOW TO PERFORM
- Loop a band across a rack at about head height, or around your shins with the other end anchored above.
- Kick up to a handstand against the wall with the band taking some of your weight.
- Lower until the head lightly touches, then press back to a locked-out handstand.
FORM TIPS
- Stay stacked: hips over shoulders over hands. Arching the back is how this turns into a shoulder injury.
- Only try this once you can hold a wall handstand comfortably. The band makes the press easier, not the balance.
