Assisted Squat
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Bodyweight
HOW TO PERFORM
- Hold a doorframe, a post or a suspension strap in front of you.
- Sit back and down into a squat, using your hands only as much as you need.
- Stand back up, taking as little help from the arms as you can.
FORM TIPS
- The help is meant to shrink week by week. When you barely need it, move to a plain bodyweight squat.
- Getting depth is the reason this rung exists, so use enough support to sit all the way down.
TARGET MUSCLES

- Quads
Secondary
