Kettlebell (Double) Front Rack March
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Kettlebell
HOW TO PERFORM
- The Setup: Clean two kettlebells into the front rack position, keeping thumbs near your chin, wrists straight, and elbows tucked in at a 45-degree angle.
- Body Alignment: Keep your ribs pulled down, brace your core tightly, and maintain a tall, upright chest. Avoid leaning backward, which shifts the load off your anterior core.
- The March: Lift one knee up (aiming for hip height or parallel to the ground) while balancing solidly on a straight planted leg. Pull your toes toward your shins.
- The Pause & Switch: Hold the top position for a brief moment, lower the foot with control, and immediately drive the opposite knee up.
- Execution Style: You can march in place or walk forward slowly for a set distance or time.
FORM TIPS
- Avoid Leaning: Do not lean backward, sideways, or twist your torso to compensate for the offset load.
- Keep Elbow Forward: Make sure your front-rack elbow stays pointed forward rather than flaring out to the side, which keeps the tension on your anterior core.
- Control the Pace: Focus on slow, deliberate steps rather than rushing through the movement.
