Dumbbell Seated Calf Raise
A step-by-step form guide from the Ægir Iron exercise library: how to do the lift, what to watch for, and the muscles it trains.
- Equipment
- Dumbbell
HOW TO PERFORM
- Sit on the end of a bench with the balls of the feet on a step and a dumbbell standing on end on each knee.
- Let the heels sink as far below the step as they will go.
- Press up onto the toes as high as you can and pause, then lower slowly back into the stretch.
FORM TIPS
- The bent knee is the point: it takes the gastrocnemius out and puts the soleus in charge, which the standing version cannot do. Expect lighter loads and higher reps.
