Ægir Iron vs JuggernautAI
Both apps serve serious strength athletes, but they take very different approaches. The simplest way to choose is to decide whether you want software to write your program for you, or a platform that gives you control and connects you to a human coach.
What JuggernautAI does well
JuggernautAI, designed by coach Chad Wesley Smith, is an AI programming app focused on powerlifting and powerbuilding. You set your goal, it builds an individualized program, and each session starts with a readiness check on sleep, soreness, nutrition, and motivation that adjusts the day's load. It adapts over time using your feedback, includes a sizable exercise library with cues, tools like a warmup and plate planner, and a member community. At the time of writing it runs around $35 per month or $350 per year with a two week trial. If you want a smart program handed to you with minimal decisions, it does that very well.
Where Ægir Iron differs
Ægir Iron is a platform rather than an AI prescriber, but individualized program development is no longer the gap between the two. The guided Program Wizard builds a complete periodized plan from your discipline, experience, schedule, and equipment, with dedicated deep steps for powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman, and calisthenics: percentage loading priced from your own training maxes, weak-lift emphasis, competition squat and lift-variant choices, contest events pinned into strongman event days, and a meet peak. Auto-progression then advances your training maxes from logged AMRAP sets each cycle and re-prices the whole plan, so the program keeps pace as you get stronger. Unlike an AI prescriber, everything it writes stays yours to edit. It also reaches beyond powerlifting to weightlifting and strongman, with meet planning and competition scoring across Wilks, DOTS, IPF GL, and Sinclair, plus load monitoring (uncoupled ACWR with an EWMA smoothed companion), relative intensity zones as a percentage of 1RM, make rate from logged misses, and recovery tracking. The biggest structural difference is human coaching, since Ægir Iron connects real coaches and athletes on a shared roster with programs syncing in real time, where JuggernautAI is the coach in software form. Ægir Iron now also includes an optional Ægir Assistant Coach, an in-app AI you can turn on for $4.99 per month, but it is off by default and confirms every change with you first, so the difference in approach still holds: JuggernautAI is AI-first by design, while Ægir Iron works fully without AI and treats it as one optional tool. Individual lifters use Ægir Iron free, and coaches pay only for roster tools.

Who should pick which
If you want an expert AI to design and adjust a powerlifting program so you can simply follow it, JuggernautAI is a great fit. If you want the same kind of individualized starting program with full control over it, a real human coach, more than one strength sport, and meet prep with proper scoring, all while individual use stays free, Ægir Iron is the better match.
